Elementary After School Activities
Elementary School (1st Grade – 5th Grade) activities run on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:05 pm to 4:00 pm. Generally, activities run for one quarter (approximately 8 weeks) and often end with a culminating activity, tournament, or local games.
The activities offered are determined by a combination of teacher talents and interests and student interest. After-school activities do wonders for a child’s development. They’re linked to improving social skills, grades, overall coordination, and the child’s sense of self, and participation can improve relationships with adults other than their parents. Activities of all kinds can also give kids a chance to be themselves, free of the structure that they face in a traditional class.
Although our activity offerings vary from year to year, some CIPLC activities that have been very consistent over the years are:
- Chess Club and Art Club
- Board Games
- Dance, Yoga, and Kids Zumba
- Maker Space and Lego Clubs
- Soccer, Basketball, Kickball, and Volleyball
- Paper Crafts and Origami
- Reading and Writing Clubs
- Study Club
- Creative Activities and Recreational Games
I am that confident you will find the offerings this year to your satisfaction. If you do not, please ask yourself – “How can I help to make the activities program at CIPLC more rich and better match my child’s interests?” I am very aware of the value and importance of extracurricular enrichment for elementary-aged children (my own daughter participated in After-School Activities!). I would love to hear your ideas on how CIPLC can help support your child.
Sincerely,
