Yurianna González
Yurianna GonzálezMusic Teacher

Yuri is from Barcelona and is a Venezuelan violinist from El Sistema. She studied a Bachelor’s degree in Music at the Simón Bolivar Conservatory, and she has over 10 years of experience playing the violin in many orchestras around Venezuela. She has been part of CIPLC since 2013. She has earned a Journalism Degree as well as an Education Degree. In her spare time she loves being with her friends and family, playing music, reading, and dancing salsa.

Emilia was born on the island of Margarita and raised in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela. She studied English as a second language in Toronto, Canada. She has been teaching English in elementary and high schools, and English institutes for several years. She likes teaching and is happy to be working in CIPLC. In her free time, she loves to watch movies, listen to music, and spend time with her family.

Alex Barrios
Alex BarriosAthletic Director / PE Teacher

Mr. Alex Barrios has a B.A. in Physical Education, Sports and Recreation from the Universidad de Carabobo and a Master in Physical Education from Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador. Instituto Pedagogico “Rafael Alberto Escobar Lara” de Maracay. He is Venezuelan and taught at Colegio Internacional de Carabobo for 19 years, where he was a coach/advisor and taught Physical Education for ECE, ES, MS, and HS. Mr. Barrios has participated in professional development courses and workshops at: Giaudrone IB World School at Washington, Tacoma – Western Carolina University – California State University, and California Polytechnic State University.
Mr. Barrios is in his seventh year at CIPLC, where he enjoys teaching his health and PE classes and doing extracurricular activities.
He is an active person, having played many sports as an athlete, such as softball and basketball. He also enjoys going to the gym every day. He loves to spend time with his two daughters Camila and Teffani and the rest of his family.
He is happy to be at CIPLC in the beautiful and interesting area of Puerto La Cruz. Let’s Go Geckos!!!

Mr. Juan Muñoz, is a Physical Education Teacher with 20 years of experience.  He graduated from UPEL-IMPM Nucleo Anzoátegui as a teacher of Sports and Recreation. He has taught in Early Childhood, Elementary School, Secondary and College. He is currently finishing his Masters Degree in Physical Education at the Pedagógico de Maturin. He is a lover of all sports but especially basketball. In his free time he likes to share with his family, read, listen to music, do outdoor physical exercises, and of course play basketball. He is very grateful and proud to belong to the great CIPLC family. “Let’s Go Geckos”

Jairo Sanchez
Jairo SanchezArt Connections Teacher

Coming from Cumaná, Jairo Sánchez relocated to Barcelona to become part of the CIPLC community. With a Bachelor’s degree in Education, he has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to learners of all ages since 2013. Since 2020, he has also been teaching Art at CIPLC. In his free time, Jairo enjoys drawing, writing short stories, and crafting academic essays. He is particularly drawn to the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which emphasizes finding beauty in imperfection and uniqueness.

Ruth Sarai Mendoza is a native of Barcelona, Venezuela. With 9 years dedicated to the study of music, she possesses a deep appreciation for the arts. She furthered her academic pursuits at “Instituto Universitario de Tecnología Superior de Oriente (IUTSO)” where she honed her English language skills. Since 2018, she has been a member of the CIPLC team. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the world through travel, immersing herself in literature, painting, and watching films and television series.

Terry Thomas
Terry ThomasLibrarian

Terry was born in Minnesota and raised in Saudi Arabia, Colorado, and Italy. She attended Colorado State University and completed her student teaching in 1991 for secondary English Language Arts at Seoul Foreign School in Korea. She and her husband Wendell went on to teach in Japan, Guam, Qatar, Belgium, Venezuela, and Colombia. In 2010, Terry earned her master’s degree in Library Science while working at CIPLC as the school librarian and middle school English teacher, simultaneously raising four little “Geckos” who wore the red, white and blue shirts with the CIPLC logo. After ten years working in the state of Utah, Terry is happy to be back in Venezuela and loves being the school librarian at CIPLC for a second time.

José Villarroel, a native of Barcelona, Venezuela. He studied Languages at Instituto Universitario Tecnológico Superior de Oriente (IUTSO). His background in English teaching led him to join CIPLC in 2019 as the Cybrary Assistant. Jose enjoys spending time with friends and family, loves to read, is enthusiastic about movies and TV shows, and is a dog lover as well as an animal rights advocate, above all he enjoys listening to his favorite genres of music.

Monica Molina was born in PLC and raised in Barcelona. She studied languages at the “Instituto Universitario de Tecnología Superior de Oriente (IUTSO)” and she has taught English as a second language to kids and teenagers along her 5 years as a teacher. During her free time she loves baking, watch movies and exercise. Also, she loves to go out with her family and friends and take landscape pictures.
